CubeX Group designed and built this 37m (W) x 40m (L) x 10m (H) facility for S&S Heavy Haulage. Purpose-built for large-scale servicing and daily operations, this workshop delivers exceptional capacity, height, and access flexibility for heavy-duty work.
Project Overview
Located in Mackay, Queensland, the workshop spans more than 1,400m² of internal space. It was created to handle heavy vehicle maintenance, component servicing, and a variety of workshop tasks. As a result, the design includes wide access points, ample headroom, and dedicated zones that improve workflow efficiency.
Key Features
To give the crew complete lifting capability, the build includes a 20-tonne rated overhead crane running the full width of the workshop. In addition, we installed a caged mezzanine floor for safe elevated storage and work areas. For rapid access, eight large I-Door roller shutters were positioned strategically. Moreover, two top-hung sliding doors add extra clearance and flexibility for large equipment.
The Challenge
The client needed a facility that could support heavy haulage servicing in all conditions. It had to combine heavy lifting capacity with efficient access and clearly defined internal zones.
Our Solution
We supplied and installed the workshop using premium Australian steel, engineered to Australian Steel Institute standards. Every detail was planned with workflow in mind – from crane support positioning to the strategic placement of access points and dedicated work areas. As a result, the build maximises efficiency and safety.
The Outcome
This heavy haulage workshop Mackay project is more than a steel shed – it’s a heavy-duty operational hub designed to go the distance. The completed facility supports the client’s day-to-day needs while offering the flexibility to adapt to future growth.
